Overview:

Directs and manages all electrical and mechanical services for the facility and the maintenance of all production machinery/equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies. Assures quality and safety while achieving established goals and objectives.



Responsibilities:

Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates overall maintenance activities through planning and communication with supervisors to ensure the total maintenance objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.
  • Develops and controls plans and budgets for the maintenance area.
  • Develops and implements a cost-effective preventative maintenance program to maintain production equipment in an efficient, safe operating condition.
  • Manages the parts inventory, work orders, and purchase orders in plant ERP System.
  • Coordinate and partner with corporate engineering department on plant projects.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors on projects or repairs.
  • Ensures adequate, cost-effective inventories of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials and repair parts.
  • Controls and minimizes overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime.
  • Oversees corrections and running adjustments of equipment to maximize production capabilities.
  • Directs changeovers of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules.
  • Ensures compliance to all federal, state, local laws, and company policies.
  • Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to subordinates.
  • Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations and working relationships with labor union.
  • Coordinates with other department managers to ensure proper purchasing, processing, packaging, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.
  • Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety, and productivity in the maintenance area.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and FSP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.



Qualifications:

Qualification Requirements:

  • 3-5 years supervisory maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry and union environment.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, budgets, equipment, and production processes.
  • Working knowledge of all electrical and mechanical equipment and functions
  • Ability to keep equipment and plant operating to produce in a safe manner.
  • High School graduate plus training courses or technical school background. Preferred licensed electrical.
  • Technical degree in a related field preferred.
  • Licensed electrician preferred.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Strong safety knowledge of OSHA Regs as they apply to maintenance

Supervisory Responsibility:

Directly supervises 2-4 supervisors who each supervise a total of 2-15 employees in the maintenance area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and results of the maintenance area. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, appraising, and terminating employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.



Working Conditions/Environment:

Working Conditions/Environment:

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, and bend while moving about the facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant. Earplugs and hairnets are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
